SYMPTOMS
The business website and WordPress administration area were inaccessible.
FINDINGS
The website had been compromised. Malicious files and unauthorised administrator access were identified in the WordPress installation.
RECOVERY ACTION
A verified earlier backup was restored. Residual malicious files, obsolete components and unauthorised administrator accounts were removed. Valid administrator passwords were reset, and WordPress core and active plugins were updated.
VERIFICATION
WordPress core files were checked against official checksums. The hosting environment was scanned with the provider, and the public website and administration area were confirmed operational.
